Eunos Rainbow residents were not given an option to retain the current colour scheme in the poll for the repainting of blocks in the estate.

Stomp Cedric wanted to know why and wrote to the town council on Sept 18.

"I have emailed Aljunied Hougang Town Council (AHTC) to enquire about the Repairs & Redecorations (R&R) works that are coming to the Eunos Rainbow public housing precinct," said Cedric.

"I understand the scope of works for the R&R includes the painting of external walls.

"I was upset they did not give residents the option to retain the existing facade option of red and grey."

On Sept 20, a project manager of the town council replied to the Stomper: "The town council commonly changes colour schemes for its blocks after each repainting cycle, and secures the approval of residents for the most popular colour scheme through a voting process.

"R&R works are part of the cyclical maintenance works undertaken by the town council alone.

"However, we welcome all residents, including agencies such as the Residents' Committee to formally write in with their feedback to the town council on improvements or even colour options/schemes in the future."

The voting closed on Sept 22.

Cedric requested of Stomp: "Please assist to publicise the news to highlight the plight faced by residents of Eunos Rainbow."

In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for AHTC said: "The town council presented three distinct colour scheme options to residents of Blocks 601 to 618, 609A, 613A, and 613B Bedok Reservoir Road as part of the repainting exercise.

"It is common practice for town councils to offer different colour schemes for their blocks after each repainting cycle in order to provide the estate with a refreshed and updated look.

"The final colour scheme will be selected based on the results of a polling exercise conducted among eligible households.

"This process ensures that residents have a direct say in the appearance of their blocks and that the chosen scheme reflects the preference of the majority."

It was announced on Sept 23 that the colour scheme selected was blue.

The Stomper lamented: "I've lived in the Eunos Rainbow precinct for the past decade and I only recognise my precinct as red in colour."
