Stomper apologises to man who mistakenly took his mother's $11 spring chicken in Yishun

Update on Oct 28:

The man who was caught on camera taking a woman's food says he'd thought it was his order.

He said: "I mistook the spring chicken as mine as it was placed on the table without any tracking on it."

The man shared a screenshot of his payment to the Western food stall for the spring chicken.

A fellow customer of the Western food stall also wrote in to Stomp and spoke up for the man.

The customer said: "I happened to patronise the same stall on Oct 27 and the man came back. He informed both the Western food store and the adjacent zi char store that he'd thought the spring chicken was his order.

"I asked the western stall auntie, who verified that he and the woman in the video had made the same order for spring chicken.

"The man was waiting for his order and thought it had been placed on the table he sat at once it was ready. He did not deliberately steal anything. He was visibly upset that his name was thrown on the Internet and felt wronged."

Original article:

A woman left her belongings on a table behind her while she was queuing for food at a coffee shop stall in Yishun.

A man was caught on camera taking the items while her back was turned.

The incident occurred at Superluck Foodcourt at Block 317 Yishun Avenue 9 on Oct 20, sometime between 7.30pm and 7.50pm.

The woman's son, Stomper Alvin, said: "My mum had bought spring chicken from another shop and left it on the table in front of the Sing Mang Seafood stall.

"She stood beside the table while waiting for her food to be prepared, but a guy took the spring chicken and left."

Alvin told Stomp that the chicken cost $11.

CCTV footage of the incident shows Alvin's mother placing a plastic bag on the table.

A man seated at the same table is spotted turning around and looking at the plastic bag. He then gets up and appears to look inside the bag before taking it and walking away.

Alvin's mother can be seen looking around in confusion after noticing that her things are gone and asking other coffee shop patrons about it.

The Stomper added: "According to eyewitnesses, they mentioned that the guy lives in the same area."

In response to a Stomp query, the police confirm a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.
