A man was seen charging his personal mobility aid (PMA) using a power socket at the void deck of Block 324 Hougang Avenue 5.

Stomper Zee, who alerted Stomp to the incident, shared photos taken on Oct 12 of the PMA connected to the power point.

"It's quite concerning how people can freely use the town council's power source," the Stomper said.

"The man is almost always at the void deck.

"If he can walk around without a PMA, does he even need one in the first place?"

In response to a Stomp query, the Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC) said it is aware of the incident.

"The town council is aware of the incident involving an individual who was found tapping electricity from a socket located at the void deck of the residential block," an AHTC spokesperson said.

"The power supply at these sockets is controlled from within the switch room and is typically activated only during scheduled maintenance activities, such as block washing.

"The individual concerned is currently receiving assistance from the relevant agencies in view of his personal circumstances.

"While the unauthorised use of water and electricity from supply points on common property constitutes an offence, the town council is monitoring the situation closely and working with the agencies managing the case."
