Man sleeps in field next to Farrer Park MRT station exit, Stomper thought he’s dead
It’s alive!
A man was spotted sleeping in the middle of a grass field at the corner of Gloucester Road and Race Course Road on the morning of March 10.
Stomper Fin shared photos of the unusual sight taken from exit D of Farrer Park MRT station.
At first glance, Fin thought it was something more morbid.
“I had dropped my son off at school around 7.15am and was walking towards Farrer Park MRT station,” recounted the Stomper.
“I thought I saw this white object from afar that looked like a dead man covered with a piece of cloth.
“When I looked closely again, apparently it was a man sleeping soundly under the cloth.”
The man was using the white cloth as his blanket and a blue backpack as his pillow. He also appeared to be lying on a piece of cardboard that was too short for his body. A water bottle stood on the grass near his head.
According to the Roots website by the National Heritage Board, the area was the site of the first racecourse in Singapore. The first horse race was held in 1843.
Instead of racing horses, the Farrer Park field has now apparently become a place for counting sheep.
