Yet another oversized personal mobility aid (PMA) has been sighted on public transport.

Stomper Lynn said she spotted a "big PMA" while travelling along Bedok North Avenue 3 on bus service 18 on July 9.

She recounted: "It happened at a time when schoolchildren were going home.

"The funny thing is the PMA owner pushed his vehicle onboard the bus instead of riding on it. He sat on the PMA in the bus and occupied the wheelchair area.

"Commuters were obstructed and inconvenienced because the walking space was reduced by half. They had to watch their step to avoid tripping over the PMA.

"Obviously, the rider was not a special needs user of PMAs. Otherwise, he would not have been able to push his vehicle up the bus."

The Stomper called for greater enforcement when it comes to such cases.

She added: "There are no rules governing such incidents and bus drivers are not in a position to reject riders. The PMA size allowed on board buses need to be imposed.

"Matters like this have to be nipped in the bud before more copycats surface, as is happening in MRT trains."

Lynn's feedback follows similar reports by other Stompers who have seen oversized PMAs and PMDs at various public places.

On July 3, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said it detected 30 offences by errant active mobility users over two weeks.

Under the Active Mobility Act (AMA), PMA and PMD users should comply with all requirements when using their devices.

For PMDs, e-scooters and PABs, the maximum weight is 20kg and maximum width is 70cm.

It should be noted that PMAs are not just for the handicapped and those unable to walk, but also for people who are able to walk only for a short distance.
