A man supposedly dug an 800g crab out of the sand at Yishun Dam, and posted a video of himself on TikTok.

Stomper Lau Lau alerted Stomp to the video, which was reposted on Facebook by SG Daily.

In the video, the man spots the large crab burrowed in the sand and digs it out, grabbing it by its pincers.

He then tosses it onto the sand and picks it up again, this time from the back of its shell.

In response to this, a commenter said: "These people have a bird's brain, wanting to post everything. If you want to catch the crab, just do it and keep quiet."

The original video, however, was posted on TikTok by user @crabhuntersg on March 29 and has been viewed over 633,000 times.

Netizens speculated that the impressive catch was actually staged, some saying the crab looks "too clean."

One user said: "Don't bluff lah… you put the crab there."

Another wrote: "I recognise this crab!! 🦀 It was still at Sheng Siong Supermarket at Yishun yesterday in the morning. 😳"

Others asked the man to "leave the crab alone" and to "let it live its life."

The TikToker, who identified himself as Ah Toan, wrote on his profile: "I like hunting crab".

His channel features various videos of him crabbing around Singapore.
