Man pays $10.50 for rice with half piece of fish, egg and ikan bilis: 'The price is ridiculous'

Nasi padang is one of Singapore's most popular local cuisines but rising prices are rubbing customers the wrong way.

A couple was shocked when they paid $10.50 for a plate of nasi padang from Punggol Nasi Padang at Bukit Panjang Plaza on Saturday (Feb 25).

Stomper Lyn told Stomp that she and her husband frequently visit the food outlet.

"My husband ordered this rice but he got a shock when he saw the bill," she said.

"His plate of rice cost $10.50 for a half-piece of fish, egg and ikan bilis.

"That is more expensive than fast food.

"The price is ridiculous for a plate of rice."

Similarly, another Stomper expressed shock when he was charged $10.20 for their nasi padang which also included ikan bilis.

The ikan bilis alone cost him $4.50.
