Man illegally obtained friend's details to rent car despite being disqualified from driving
A 26-year-old man was arrested for cheating by personation after he was stopped during a police roadblock along Woodlands Avenue 7 on July 9.
Through follow up investigations, officers from the Woodlands Police Division established that the man has been disqualified from driving since January 22 and had allegedly fraudulently obtained his friend's details to register for a rental vehicle from a car rental company.
He is also under investigation for a traffic-related offence.
The man will be charged in court on July 10 for the offence of cheating by personation, which carries a jail term of up to five years and a fine.
Investigations into the traffic-related offence are ongoing.
The police reminded members of the public that it is a serious offence to impersonate another individual and said they will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
