A man was found with a knife at the Bukit Timah church where a priest was stabbed in the mouth in November.

The police were alerted on Dec 1 at about 12.35pm that a man was discovered with a folding knife in his pocket by church security volunteers at St Joseph's Church at 620 Upper Bukit Timah Road.

When the police arrived, the 36-year-old man was compliant and the folding knife was seized.

The man is a regular attendee at the church and believed to be a handyman, who purportedly forgot to keep the folding knife with his other tools after an earlier job.

He is currently assisting police with investigations, which are ongoing.

Less than a month earlier at the same church, Reverend Christopher Lee, 57, was stabbed in the mouth during mass on Nov 9 evening,

Basnayake Keith Spencer, 37, was charged on Nov 11 with one count of voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon.
