Man confronts delivery worker about parcels in Jurong West void deck, emails PM's Office 9 times and gets reply
A man emailed the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) nine times in October about unattended parcels in Jurong West void decks and finally got a reply.
Stomper TN first wrote to the Housing Board about the issue on July 30 with the subject title: "Unattended goods or items everywhere HDB blocks".
HDB replied on Aug 11 that as the common property of the HDB estate was managed and maintained by the town council, the Stomper's feedback will be shared with the town council.
Dissatisfied with the response, the Stomper forwarded HDB's reply to various media outlets as well as the People's Action Party, Workers' Party and Singapore Democratic Party, and accused HDB of "playing taichi".
On Oct 7, the Stomper sent photos and a video of parcels in the void deck to the same recipients and added PMO to the mailing list.
The email read: "Can anyone help to get the responsible and competent authority to step up SGSecure within public housing, look into these concerning suspicious items left in a few HDB blocks and prevent the recurrence?"
He listed Blocks 654A, 654B and 655A at Jurong West Street 61.
The Stomper continued to send out emails with photos and videos on Oct 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 18, 28 and 31.
In one of the videos, the Stomper walked through a mess of parcels strewn in the void deck of Block 652B Jurong West Street 61 and confronted a delivery worker.
The Stomper asked the delivery worker in Mandarin why he was using the void deck to sort the parcels.
The worker replied in Mandarin: "I can't?"
The Stomper said: "I don't know. Do you think you're allowed?"
The worker said he had always been doing it there.
The Stomper asked if the worker's boss approved this and the worker sighed.
The video ends shortly after.
In his Oct 31 email, the Stomper included photos of a loaded trolley chained to a pipe in the void deck and wrote: "PMO, do you know the contents and owners of this property locked against the pipes in the HDB common area? See latest pix and how could you allow this to go on for so, soo long?"
On Nov 4, PMO replied: "Dear sir/madam, thank you for your email.
"We have alerted the relevant agency to your feedback."

Again dissatisfied with the response, the Stomper wrote back with more photos and video on Nov 8: "It's even more bloody outrageous, wholly irresponsible, completely unacceptable and plainly wrong that such activities - see pix and vid - are still ongoing daily for so long.
"How much extra time do you need to help address safety concerns and fix such aged issues that affect community safety?"
Parcels being sorted in void decks have indeed been a longstanding issue with other Stompers as well.
Most recently, a Serangoon Central resident shared a video of parcels being sorted near a rubbish chute.
