A 46-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a series of cheating cases, said police in a July 16 news release.
Police received a call for assistance from a supermarket along Woodlands Street 82 for a case of suspected shop theft on March 21.
A Giant Supermarket is located at the address.
The man was detained by supermarket staff for allegedly scanning and voiding grocery items worth over $34 at a self-checkout counter.
Preliminary investigations revealed that he had purportedly scanned another barcode to make the final payment $0.60.
Subsequent investigations revealed that between Jan 2 and March 21, the man had allegedly made 26 similar transactions at the supermarket, and voided the items he had scanned at the self-checkout kiosk before leaving the store with them.
The total value of the items voided by the man amounted to over $500.
He will be charged in court on July 17 for cheating.
