Man blocks car by standing in middle of road at 3.45am in Bugis and lights cigarette
Was he drunk?
A man was caught on camera blocking a car by standing in front of it in the middle of Liang Seah Street at 3.45am on July 4.
A dashcam video of the incident was posted by SG Road Vigilante on July 14.
The video shows the vehicle on North Bridge Road turning into Liang Seah Street opposite Bugis Junction.
As the car inched forward, a small group of men can be seen engaging in horseplay in the middle of the road. When they realised a car was behind them, they stepped aside to make way.
But then a man in a yellow shirt with sunglasses on top of his head walked up to the front to the car and just stood there, preventing it from moving forward.
After gesturing to the driver, the man took out a cigarette, lit it and started smoking.
A man in a black shirt tried to get him to stand aside, but it was only when another man in a motorcycle helmet stepped in and gently pulled him back that he gave way to the car.
While Liang Seah Street is closed to traffic every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holiday from 6.30pm to midnight, July 4 was a Thursday and not a public holiday, at least not in Singapore.
Also, it was way past midnight.
So there was no need for the human road block.
