A man was arrested for driving while under the influence of a drug or an intoxicating substance after leaving a trail of damage in Little India on June 29.

Several Stompers alerted Stomp to a video of his white Toyota C-HR Hybrid having crashed into a road divider and its right front wheel spinning in the air.

The car then reversed out of the position and crashed into another part of the road divider.

It continued going backwards across the road and over the kerb onto a pedestrian path until the vehicle finally came to a stop after crashing into a railing where a bicycle was parked.

One netizen commented on the video: "Bro thought he was playing GTA5."

That was a reference to the video game Grand Theft Auto V.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted at about 11.05pm to the accident involving a car that was believed to have "self-skidded" at Race Course Road towards Tessensohn Road.

No injuries were reported and the 39-year-old driver was arrested.

The car in the video is owned by M Label Rental, an employee of the company told The Straits Times.

Mr Andy Yeo said the driver had just signed a six-month lease for the car in June. His company was not aware of the accident until the morning of July 2, when a video of the incident was shared with him and his colleagues via WhatsApp.

He said the company called the driver's wife - listed as his emergency contact in their records - but she said he has been missing for two days.

Police investigations are ongoing.
