Man appears 'dizzy' after vaping on bus
A woman expressed concern after observing a passenger vaping on a public bus on Feb 6 at about 11am.
Stomper Gowri shared with Stomp that she boarded bus service 911 from Woodlands Interchange.
"This guy didn't even tap his EZ-Link car and then started vaping," she said.
She snapped a photo of the man in which he appears to be inhaling from a vape device.
"It's seriously a bad thing to vape, especially on a public bus," she said.
"The bus driver didn't seem to check what people were doing on the bus."
She added that nobody confronted the man for vaping.
"He seemed dizzy and weak while walking," she said.
Stomp has contacted SMRT for more information.
Last month, a woman was caught vaping on a Jetstar flight from Singapore to Bangkok. The airline told Stomp they reported the incident to local authorities.
In August 2024, SMRT made a police report after a man was caught vaping on an MRT train.
According to the Health Sciences Authority (HSA), e-vaporisers are known to contain harmful chemicals such as fine particulate matter (PM), cancer-causing agents like carbonyls and volatile organic compounds such as formaldehyde and benzene.
The purchase, possession and use of emerging and imitation tobacco products, which include e-vaporisers, is prohibited.
Any person who is convicted of possession, use and purchase of e-vaporisers is liable to a fine of up to $2,000.
Commuters who spot similar acts are advised to report them to the HSA's Tobacco Regulation Branch at 6684 2036 or 6684 2037.
