A man was caught on camera struggling with the police after he allegedly hit a taxi driver over the fare in Punggol.

He was arrested and the cabby was taken to the hospital, the police told Stomp.

The 64-second video was posted by TikTok user Wan Riduan Bin Ramle on Saturday (July 8).

He captioned the video: "Another fare evader who hit and hurt a poor taxi uncle. Worst part was he had a flight the following day... say bye-bye, holiday."

Riduan wrote in the comments that he was at his window and heard everything. "He was shouting a few times: 'I have a flight tomorrow at 11.00am.' It could be heard very clearly."

Riduan added that the scuffle with the police lasted less than 10 minutes.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they received a call for assistance at Block 256A Sumang Walk on July 8 at about 12.05am.

The 26-year-old man was arrested for drunkenness in public places and assisting with investigations for voluntarily causing hurt.

The 60-year-old male taxi driver was conscious when taken to the hospital.

Police investigations are ongoing.
