Man, 68, allegedly molested 13-year-old boy on bus, arrested next day
Nine men are expected to be charged in court on Sept 23 for their suspected involvement in separate cases of molestation or outrage of modesty.
Three of the cases took place on public transport.
A 13-year-old boy was molested on a public bus on Nov 5, 2024.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from CCTV and police cameras, the police managed to establish the identity of the 68-year-old suspect and arrested him the next day.
He will be charged with one count of outrage of modesty against a person below 14 years of age.
In another case on a bus, a 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene after he allegedly molested a 23-year-old woman on June 25.
Two days earlier, a 43-year-old woman was molested by a man on the train. Through follow-up investigations, the police managed to establish the identity of the 45-year-old suspect and arrested him.
He will be charged with one count of outrage of modesty, which carries an imprisonment term up to three years, a fine, caning or any combination of such punishments.
But outrage of modesty of a person below 14 years of age carries an imprisonment term which may extend to five years, a fine, caning or any combination of such punishments.
