A 39-year-old man was arrested for a hacking attempt on the Government's digital voucher system RedeemSG, said the police in an Aug 10 news release.

The RedeemSG team lodged a police report on July 28 about the multiple suspicious attempts to access voucher links on the RedeemSG portal.

The attempts were unsuccessful and no vouchers were compromised.

Through follow-up investigations, officers from the Cybercrime Command of the Criminal Investigation Department established the identity of the man within a day of the report.

He was arrested on July 29 and his laptop was seized for further investigation.

He is being investigated for the offence of attempted unauthorised access to computer material, which carries an imprisonment term up to two years, a fine up to $5,000 or both.

Investigations are ongoing.

Stomp has previously reported that people discovered their CDC vouchers had been used by someone else.
