Man, 38, arrested for throwing soju bottle through bus window from pedestrian walkway at Orchard Road

A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly throwing a glass bottle onto the window of a bus from a pedestrian walkway at Orchard Road.

The impact caused the window to shatter and injured a 57-year-old female bus passenger.

Photos posted online shows a round hole in a window on the upper deck of a double-decker SMRT bus service 190.

The police said they received a call for assistance on July 5 about 6.50pm.

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on July 8.

What he threw was a Jinro strawberry soju bottle.

An 18-year-old teenager who was with the man is assisting with the investigation.

The man will be charged in court on July 9 with rash act causing hurt, which carries an imprisonment term which may extend to one year, a fine up to $5,000 or both.
