Man, 23, arrested for loanshark harassment after Woodlands residential unit splashed with red paint
A 23-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment.
The police said they were alerted on Apr 30 to a case of loanshark harassment along Woodlands Avenue 5.
A residential unit was reported to have been splashed with red paint.
Officers established the identity of the man and arrested him on May 2.
Preliminary investigations revealed that he is involved in three similar cases along York Hill, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 and Pasir Ris Street 51.
The man will be charged in court on May 3.
First time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment face a fine of between $5,000 and $50,000, up to five years' jail and up to six strokes of the cane.
The police said they have zero tolerance against loanshark harassment activities, adding: "Those who deliberately cause annoyance and disruption to public safety and security will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law."
Members of the public are advised to stay away from loansharks and not to work with or assist the loansharks in any way.
