Lorry driver rescued after falling into waters off Jurong Port, taken to hospital with head injury
A lorry driver delivering ship provisions at Jurong Port was rescued after he fell into the waters on Oct 1.
Stomper Anonymous said the incident happened at about 4.15pm while the man was working near a berthed vessel.
"The driver sustained a deep cut on his head and appeared disoriented while losing blood," the Stomper said.
Photos shared with Stomp show him being pulled from the water with the help of a life buoy, before being attended to on shore with visible injuries to his head.
The Stomper said Jurong Port's emergency response team was immediately activated.
"Two responders from Jurong Port entered the choppy waters and successfully rescued the driver before the arrival of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF)," he said.
The driver was later placed on a stretcher and received medical attention.
In response to a Stomp query, SCDF confirmed it received a call for assistance at 37 Jurong Port Road at about 4.35pm.
An SCDF spokesman said: "SCDF conveyed one person to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital."
A Jurong Port spokesperson told Stomp that the driver is employed by a ship chandler.
"Jurong Port's Emergency Response Team was immediately activated, and two responders rescued the individual and administered a head dressing before the arrival of the SCDF," the spokesperson said.
"He was conveyed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, discharged on the same day and has been recovering well since.
"We are investigating the incident further.
