Lorry burnt to a crisp after catching fire along PIE

Stomper Jason passed by a lorry that had caught fire on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) towards Tuas today (Aug 21) at around 3.10pm.

In the video he shared with Stomp, officers from the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were seen attending to the incident. 

The lorry was engulfed in a thick billow of smoke.

Said Jason:

“The smell was quite strong."

The SCDF has issued an official statement on the incident:

“SCDF was alerted to a vehicle fire along PIE towards Tuas at 2.15pm.

“SCDF dispatched two fire engines and two fire bikes.

“The fire was extinguished by the SCDf using a hose reel and a compressed air foam backpack. 

“There were no reported injuries.”
