Karang guni man allegedly steals iPhone from flat after resident left door open in rush to clean baby's poop
A Sembawang resident alleged that a karang guni man entered a flat and stole an iPhone 15 Plus after the door was accidentally left open on Oct 16.
Stomper Koko shared the footage from the neighbour's CCTV showing the man sounding the air horn in his hand and carrying a backpack in the common area outside the Stomper's flat at Block 366A Sembawang Crescent.
"Towards the end of the video, he was about to leave via the stairwell when he saw the door open and seized the chance to steal," claimed the Stomper.
"He entered the home and took the phone at the entrance."
The video does not explicitly show the man entering the flat as the view of the Stomper's flat is blocked by a wall.
The Stomper explained that a family member had left the door open because of a baby.
"The baby had made a big 'bobo' and the mother rushed in to wash the baby," said the Stomper.
"The door was slightly ajar. The phone was left on the console or baby stroller beside the door.
"The mother did not see or hear the man when he was at the door. He seized the chance to steal when he saw that the mother and baby were in the bedroom toilet."
In response to a Stomp query, the police confirmed a report was lodged, adding that investigations are ongoing.
"The situation happened because the baby made a big mess," reiterated the Stomper.
"So the mother quickly dropped everything and brought the baby to the bathroom to clean up once she got home."
