Jurong West HDB corridor turned into storage and laundry drying area
It smells.
A corridor of Block 546 Jurong West Street 42 has been turned into a storage and laundry drying area by the flat occupants on the floor.
Stomper BC shared photos of the common area lined on both sides with racks of clothes and shoes. One photo shows bedding hung over the handrail in the stairwell with bicycles parked on the steps and landing.
The Stomper, who lives one storey below, complained of the smell as well as people smoking outside their flats.
He alleged that foreign workers were living on the floor.
"I really can’t understand why they can have so many people staying there," said the Stomper.
He told Stomp he had reported his concerns to the town council.

According to the Housing Board, the following foreign employees are allowed to rent HDB flats:
- Employment Pass holders
- EntrePass holders
- Personalised Employment Pass holders
- S Pass holders
- Work Permit holders who either are Malaysians or work in the services sector
Non-Malaysian Work Permit holders from the manufacturing sector are allowed to rent bedrooms, but not the whole flat.
In June, Stomp reported that 15 foreign workers were found living in an illegal residence-turned-dorm at Upper Serangoon Road. A Singaporean man was fined $600,000 after being convicted of three counts of converting private residential properties to unauthorised dormitory accommodation.
