# ‘Johor is gone’: Marsiling resident can’t see M’sia from 20th-floor flat amid thick haze

Besides causing unhealthy air quality, the prolonged haze in Singapore has also severely reduced visibility.

For Marsiling resident and Stomper Zaidi, his once-clear view of Johor from his flat has all but disappeared behind a thick blanket of fog since the haze began.

He shared a video taken from his flat on the 20th floor of 188A Marsiling Road, showing very little visible beyond the distant HDB blocks and the waters separating Singapore and Johor.

Even Woodlands Checkpoint is barely visible in the distance.

According to Zaidi, the video was taken at about 5pm on Oct 15.

The view contrasts sharply with footage taken from the same spot in 2024, when the Stomper could clearly see many areas in front of his home untouched by development.

He could even catch a glimpse of the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link under construction.

Looking at the current conditions, Zaidi quipped: “Johor is gone.”

While the haze has not affected him or his family too seriously, he said he has been wearing a mask whenever he goes outdoors since the haze began.
