Is this tree the favourite haunt of the Pontianak?

Stomper Lau Lup was amused when he came across a peculiarly named heritage tree in the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve on Jun 27, 2017.
He took some photos of the Kayu Pontianak tree, which shares the same name as the Pontianak, a female ghost in the Malay folklore, and sent it to Stomp.
Said Lau Lup:
“Why is this tree known as the Kayu Pontianak?
“I wonder if this is the favourite tree of the ‘Pontianak’ in Malay folklore?
“What do you think?”
