A woman was looking for her lost pet bird when she came across a reticulated python in a canal at Sun Plaza Park in the wee hours of June 13.

Stomper P's budgerigar, named Rascal, was last seen in a bush at Block 502 Tampines Central 1 at about 8.15pm on June 12.

He had flown out of a window at around 4.30pm that day.

P saw the python, which looked like it had just eaten something, at about 12.30am, hours after Rascal went missing.

She told Stomp: "I only noticed it because I was out looking for my lost bird. The snake had eaten something and I was worried it might have been my baby bird, as he was last seen near the area."

The Stomper, who reported the snake sighting to the authorities, recounted: "The snake seemed quite large to me. It looked almost three metres in length."

The search for Rascal continues and P hopes to be reunited with him soon.

P believes Rascal should still be in the area, as he is only seven months old and is unable to fly long distances.

She added: "He is very timid and easily frightened, so he may fly away if approached."
