Hardcore vegetarian finds meat in burrito bowl from Guzman Y Gomez, allegedly told 'it happens'
A diner found meat in his vegetarian burrito bowl from Guzman Y Gomez (GYG) at The Rail Mall on the evening of Dec 12.
Stomper V said he was deeply upset by the incident and how it was handled.
He recounted: "I found a large piece of meat in my vegetarian burrito bowl. I am a hardcore vegetarian by religion, as I have been all my life. This in itself was very upsetting.
"I then went and had a conversation with their manager, who was extremely casual, even stating that 'it happens' as they were serving food during a 'busy time.'"
The Stomper said he found the manager's response "simply unacceptable," but added: "I believe that it is not purely the manager's issue, rather a larger issue with GYG. Incidents of this nature severely impact people's religious beliefs.
"Previously, I was a frequent customer for many years. However, now I am not sure if I will ever return. I am looking forward to seeing how GYG will remedy this situation."
Asked if he was given a replacement or refund, V told Stomp: "No, I didn't accept anything from them. As you can imagine, this was hugely upsetting for me."
V said he is currently in talks with GYG to resolve the matter.
