A woman allegedly found a glass shard in her coleslaw from a western food stall at Block 504 Jurong West Street 51 on May 25.

Stomper Lee ordered a whole spring chicken set from 5 Grill Kitchen via GrabFood.

She recounted: "I saw something black in between the coleslaw. Out of curiosity, I used my finger to see what it was and it was lucky that I did that."

Lee said she has no idea where the foreign object could have come from and it was just one shard of glass but "shocking enough".

She did not inform the stall, but got a refund from GrabFood.

"I just let the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) handle," she added.

In response to a Stomp query, SFA said it inspected the food establishment and did not detect any food safety lapses.

"Nonetheless, the food operator was reminded to ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained and their food handlers adhere to good food safety practices," said the agency.

"Food safety is a joint responsibility. While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices."

Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices by food operators should report to SFA via the online feedback form.

SFA said it takes a serious view towards food safety and will investigate all feedback alleging poor food safety practices.

As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained.
