Grab suspends driver who watched TikTok during 21-min ride, apologises for Stomper's distress
A Grab driver was caught on video watching TikTok behind the wheel.
Stomper Anonymous said the incident occurred on Oct 31 at around 6pm while she was en route to Craig Road. The journey took 21 minutes and cost $29.50.
She told Stomp: "My Grab driver was watching TikTok while driving. He did it for the whole ride, except for the last two to four minutes to follow the map.
"I complained to Grab and all I was told was that he got a warning. We need better regulations for drivers to keep our roads safe - we missed five accidents in that one ride."
In response to a Stomp query, a Grab spokesperson said on Nov 4: "The safety of our Grab community is one of our top priorities, and we sincerely apologise for the distress this passenger experienced."
The spokesperson said Grab has a zero-tolerance policy for actions that violate its Code of Conduct, adding: "We have taken immediate action by suspending the driver-partner and issuing a full refund to the passenger.
"We want to assure all our users that this is not reflective of the vast majority of our driver-partners, and we will continue to enforce strict adherence to our Code of Conduct, including permanent removal from the platform for serious and repeated breaches."
