A seven-year-old girl was hurt after allegedly stepping on a thumbtack at the Kiztopia indoor playground in Marina Square on Jan 31.

Stomper Yang, who is the girl's mother, posted about the incident on social media.

She had dropped her daughter off at Kiztopia for a classmate's birthday party with about 20 children.

In a video taken by one of the kids' mum and seen by Stomp, the children were jumping in a room and when they stopped, Yang's daughter can be seen lifting her foot to examine her sole before sitting down on a chair.

The Stomper said her daughter, who was wearing socks, had stepped on the 1.2cm-long thumbtack on the floor.

The child was not wearing shoes at the time as shoes are not allowed in the play area. According to the Kiztopia website, visitors must wear socks on the premises for safety purposes and hygiene. Bare feet are also not allowed.

"Her foot was severely punctured and bleeding!" said Yang, who shared photos of the girl's blood-stained sock.

She claimed that after her daughter was injured, not a single Kiztopia staff member offered first aid.

"We had to tend to our bleeding child ourselves," said Yang.

"When we sought help, the staff's first response was terrible and dismissive."

The Stomper claimed a staff member asked: "Did you sign the waiver?"

Yang told Stomp she was at the playground for four hours, but no manager showed up.

"Upon leaving, they offered my traumatised child 'a free ice cream or extra play time', as if that could make up for their failure," said the mother.

"This was an insult."

Yang commented on her Xiaohongshu post that she took her daughter to see a doctor, who prescribed anti-inflammatory medication for the girl's wound.

The mother told Stomp that an "operation manager" contacted her via WhatsApp the next day and told her the case was "under discussion".

A Kiztopia manager told Shin Min Daily News on Feb 1 that the company was aware of the incident and was reviewing its CCTV footage. As investigations were still ongoing, the manager was unable to disclose more details, but said the affected parents were contacted.

The manager added that the staff had carefully inspected the premises before the playground opened on Feb 1 to ensure no sharp objects were on the floor, and no similar incidents had been reported since.
