A Ghim Moh Link resident was alarmed when his upstairs neighbour used a weighted fishing line to retrieve a pair of shorts that had fallen from their unit.

Stomper Urikoto told Stomp that his neighbor repeatedly attempted to use the fishing line with a hook to retrieve their shorts from the roof of a nearby Sheng Siong supermarket on June 10.

"In one of the attempts, the metal weight actually swung directly towards my kitchen window and smashed into it with a loud bang," he said.

"Luckily, there was no damage to my kitchen window and it was closed, otherwise, it would have hooked onto my face."

"I then shouted out of my window to tell them off, that it's dangerous."

However, the Stomper's neighbours continued casting the weighted fishing line.

After several attempts, his neighbours finally managed to hook the shorts, but Urikoto did not share in their joy.

"To be honest, I was still pissed and felt like cutting off the line after they successfully hooked it up," he said.

"Such dangerous acts should not be attempted.

"I have no idea what my neighbours were thinking."

The Stomper added that he gave feedback to his town council over the issue and felt his neighbor could have sought their assistance instead of taking matters into their own hands.

This is not the first time a resident has been spotted wielding a fishing rod at a Housing Board (HDB) flat.

Last month, a Jurong West resident was amused to see a man casting a line from the second floor of his block.
