A Geylang Bahru resident whose flat was splashed with pink paint on Feb 5 doesn't know why his flat was targeted.

A 47-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested on Feb 6 in relation to the case.

Stomper Tommy, who owns the flat, said: "The police have not yet disclosed to me whether I was target or it was the wrong address."

When he saw the paint splashed on his gate and door, he was upset by the mess and his wife was worried.

To clean up the mess, the Stomper said he used alcohol and scrapped away the paint, then resprayed the gate and door.

He added: "We installed CCTV and wrote to the MP."

The resident was later informed that a neighbour's flat renovation was unfinished due to the contractor not getting paid.

"Before getting this unit, the new owner, who is a single mother, went through a few months of appeal before getting the unit," said the Stomper.

"So I suspect the target was actually my neighbour."

The man who was arrested was also found to be in possession of a knuckle duster and a replica gun without a licence as well as substances believed to be controlled drugs.

Both he and the woman were charged in court on Feb 8 under the Moneylenders Act 2008.

For first-time offenders, the offence of loanshark harassment carries a fine of not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000, imprisonment of up to five years and caning of up to six strokes.
