A Gardenia van caught fire at Paya Lebar Road near the MacPherson MRT station on Tuesday afternoon (July 19), causing traffic delays.

Facebook user Sherman Ong said that three lanes of traffic were closed because of the incident.

At least three videos of the van were posted online. Multiple police vehicles and one fire engine were at the scene. The logo of bread company Gardenia can be seen on the side and rear doors of the van, which looked like toast.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that it was alerted to a fire along Paya Lebar Road at 1.40pm.

"The fire involved a van and was extinguished by SCDF using a hose reel and a water jet. There were no reported injuries," said SCDF.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
