A woman ordered furniture on New Year's Day and was promised delivery by March.

When her furniture was still not delivered in May, Bedchamber Boutique promised her a refund.

Unfortunately for Stomper Low, the furniture store at Oxley Bizhub in Ubi has since closed down.

Now she wants to share her experience so that it does not happen to others.

Low recounted that she had purchased a storage bed frame and a queen-size bed totalling $1,899 on Jan 1. A deposit of $1,599 was paid with the remaining $300 due upon delivery, which was scheduled for March 15.

But days before the delivery date, a Bedchamber Boutique staff member named E informed the customer that the delivery would be delayed until the end of March.

Then on March 29, E informed the Stomper that the delivery would be delayed until mid-April. Come April 13, E said the delivery would be in mid-May.

"I was extremely upset and requested a refund, explaining that my son had been sleeping on the floor as we had anticipated the bed would be delivered within the agreed time frame," said Low.

E offered to loan the Stomper a super single mattress with a frame, but Low accepted only the mattress.

"They assured us that if the storage bed and mattress were not delivered by May 15, they would provide a full refund and deliver the items once they arrived in Singapore," said the Stomper.

On May 15, she attempted to contact Bedchamber Boutique but received no response.

Low said: "On May 16, they finally responded, claiming that E had been hospitalised and promising a full refund. I requested the refund in cash.

"They replied that the bed frame would arrive the following week, and the mattress would arrive around the first or second week of June."

On May 19, the store contacted the Stomper's husband to tell him the storage bed would arrive the following week and the queen-size mattress would arrive mid-June, and offered a counter-proposal.

"I declined and insisted on a full refund," said Low, who kept chasing after her refund in the following weeks with no success.

It was reported on June 10 that Bedchamber Boutique had closed down.

A customer went to the store on June 5 and 7, but the door was locked on both days. He also found 11 other customers in the same situation and their losses totalled more than $25,000.

The Consumers Association of Singapore told the media it has received 19 complaints against Bedchamber Boutique from June 1 to 10.

The Stomper said: "I sincerely hope that no one else will encounter the same situation as I did."
