Food delivery ordered and funeral service called to Chai Chee house to annoy resident, 1 man arrested
A 27-year-old man was arrested for assisting an unlicensed moneylending business in a Chai Chee private estate.
The police were alerted on July 29 at 7.10pm to the case at Jalan Grisek, where a resident received calls from loansharks demanding repayment.
The loansharks allegedly also called food delivery services and funeral services to the house in a bid to cause annoyance to the resident.
Through ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day. One mobile phone was seized as case exhibit.
The man will be charged in court on July 31 under the Moneylenders Act 2008.
For first-time offenders, the offence of assisting with unlicensed moneylending business carries a fine between $30,000 and $300,000, with imprisonment of up to four years.
