Flyer asking you to scan QR code for free blood pressure device is not a scam, says AIA
You cannot be too careful these days.
People are warning each other online that a flyer asking you to scan a QR code to redeem a free blood pressure measuring device is a scam.
Stomper Lee shared a screenshot of a message that said: "This is a scam. If received in your doorway, please do not scan the QR code."
Stomper Caseyakahzg said: "Is this a scam? These pamphlets are being distributed in public and messages are circulating on social media that this is a scam!"
Stomper Mike said: "This is another scam. If receive in your doorway or letter box, do not scan the QR code.
But is it really a scam?
In the bottom left corner of the flyer are the words: "We care for SG."
On Wednesday (May 10), insurance company AIA Singapore posted on its Facebook page: "We are aware of recent online discussions regarding a flyer issued by We Care For SG Private Limited.
"We confirm that AIA had engaged We Care For SG Private Limited, a private limited company registered in Singapore, to conduct marketing activities with our authorised insurance representatives.
"Our customers can be assured that this is not a scam.
"We encourage members of the public to practice caution when scanning a QR code, and/or when sharing personal information."
While the flyer is not a scam, if you plan to redeem the free blood pressure device, you should be aware of this line in the terms and conditions: "During redemption, there will be a 20-minute financial sharing session by AIA Financial Services Consultant from SP-JC Associates and SP-NGJS, an authorised representative of AlA Singapore."
