A fly was seen on a cookie at Pullman Bakery at 100 AM mall, leaving a passer-by concerned.

Stomper Joey told Stomp she witnessed the incident on March 23 and reported it to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) on March 27, which is looking into the matter.

Pointing out that she “saw a fly landing on a biscuit”, she said: “The fly could have flown around all the other breads. But upon notifying the staff, they just shooed away the fly and continued selling all the tainted items”.

Joey did not make any purchases but shared a video of the incident with Stomp.

“Based on Google reviews, I think the flies are a known issue but nothing has been done,” she added.

Joey’s experience does not appear to be an isolated incident.

Google Reviews of Pullman Bakery’s 100 AM outlet over the past few months show multiple customers raising concerns about hygiene issues and the presence of “pests”.

One shopper also shared a video of a housefly on the bakery’s bread.

Another customer urged the store to “pls clean your bakery”.

Stomp was unable to reach Pullman Bakery for comment, but has reached out to 100 AM.

SFA told Stomp on March 30 that food safety is a joint responsibility.

“While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices,” it said.

“Food operators should also ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained.”

Members of the public with concerns about food safety practices can report them to SFA online.
