Family of hornbills visit D'Leedon condo balcony, one even snacks on resident's chilli plant
A family of hornbills paid a visit to a resident's balcony at D'Leedon condominium on July 25.
Stomper Mike, who had earlier helped feed a family of doves that built a nest on his balcony in early July, shared videos of the hornbills with Stomp.
"About 10 hornbills come every evening to D'Leedon's guard house," he said. "They fly between D'Leedon and the Charming Garden condo near Farrer Road."
The Stomper believes the flock of hornbills nests in the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and Rifle Range Park areas.
"Between our condo and the nature reserves, there are no high-rise buildings at all - it's all landed properties," he said.
"I can see Bukit Timah Nature Reserve from my balcony, so the hornbills are able to fly straight to D'Leedon without any blockage."
Mike added: "One even ate the chilli we planted!"
Upon being asked about the well-being of the spotted dove fledglings that hatched from the nest on his balcony, Mike said that the two young doves had already departed from the nest.
