FairPrice Finest customers horrified to find mould on shredded cheese and maggot in Hi-Chew candy
Two recent FairPrice Finest customers found their purchases to be not so fine.
One discovered mould in her shredded cheese and another found a maggot in her candy bought from the supermarket chain.
Stomper Melanie said she was horrified to make the discovery 2½ hours after buying the Perfect Italiano Perfect Pizza shredded cheese from the Bukit Timah Plaza outlet on May 13.
"The bag was sealed and we discovered the mould growing right when the bag was cut open," recounted Meanie, who shared photos of the contaminated cheese, which she paid $14.58 for.

"The mould didn't have any particular smell to it, but it comprised quite a large patch which was concerning."
The packaging said the product was best before Sept 1, 2024.

The other FairPrice Finest customer, Stomper SH, had purchased the Hi-Chew passion fruit-flavoured candy from the Changi City Point outlet on April 30.
"I bought this candy for my child who got a shock when she found a maggot crawling out from the candy," recounted the Stomper, who shared a video of the insect larva on the unwrapped sweet.
She also shared a photo of a "weird-coloured matter" on the candy, which had an expiry date of Aug 17, 2024.

"The candy cost a dollar and I contemplated if I should take it back to Finest as the transport itself would cost me more," said the Stomper.
"However, I thought I'd inform shoppers to be wary when buying this candy."
SH told Stomp that she was informed by FairPrice on May 13 that specific batch of candy was removed from the shelves.
"However, they went on to claim that there was no infestation found. I offered them to collect the candy in question for testing, but they declined and advised me to dispose of it," said the Stomper.
"FairPrice offered to do a refund via PayNow for the $1.07 candy, but I declined."
Stomp has contacted the FairPrice Group for more info.
