Singaporean actors Edwin Goh and Rachel Wan, who are based in Australia, are engaged and will be moving back to Singapore.
This was disclosed by Goh in a video clip posted on social media on April 4. "She said yes," the 30-year-old wrote.
In the video, Goh walked slowly to Wan as he took out the ring and knelt in front of her, with the Sydney Opera House in the background. She covered her face in surprise and nodded several times, as they hugged after the proposal. In the video, he also shared snippets of their sweet moments together.
Wan, 28, posted several photos of the proposal on social media on April 5.
"I've dreamt about my dream man my entire life and to think I knew him for 10 years before realising he was the one," she wrote. "I was so overwhelmed with joy, excitement and all the emotions I couldn't even fathom, that I actually struggled to hear @edwininja's speech. It was like even my ears went red and numb."
She added: "It feels like something clicked into place. It feels so right with you @edwininja. You are my person."
Goh and Wan disclosed in March 2023 that they were dating, after playing a couple in the Channel 8 drama series, Strike Gold (2023). They moved to Sydney, Australia, in July 2023 to seek new experiences and a slower pace of life.
Goh, who also acted in the drama series All That Glitters (2023), told Chinese-language daily Lianhe Zaobao that he had planned to propose to Wan for several months.
"I was really nervous," he said. "Although I knew it was the right time, my mind went blank even though I had prepared the 'script'," he said.
Goh said Wan was unaware of his plan to propose, as he told her he was going to shoot a video with the Sydney Opera House as the background.
"Edwin told me that we would shoot some social media content together, so I didn't suspect anything as we have been discussing some ideas a few weeks ago," Wan told Zaobao. "My mind went blank when he proposed to me because I couldn't believe he actually did it. It was a joy I've never felt before in my life."
The couple, who have lived in Australia for about two years, will move back to Singapore on April 9.
"We considered many factors and one of the main reasons was our family and friends," Goh said.
The couple have been busy packing for their return for a while now, and Goh decided to propose to Wan before leaving Australia.
"I know she will be happy ending our chapter in Sydney on a happy day," he said. "We will hold the wedding in Singapore because our friends and family are here, but we will also hold a small wedding for good friends in Australia."
He said they have no plans to have children for now.
