Earthworms and millipedes plague Tengah estate, crawl into flat: Town council has informed contractor
A Tengah resident said that earthworms and millipedes are plaguing her estate with some of them even getting into her flat.
Stomper Min shared photos showing the carcasses of the creepy crawlies in the corridor
"There are a lot of earthworms and millipedes around the estate in Tengah called Plantation Village. Some even crawl into my house on several occasions," said the Stomper.
"Despite fogging and pest control, the issue still persists. As seen in the photo, our corridors are filled with many dead bodies of the worms."
She added that she has given feedback to the town council about the problem.
In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for the Choa Chu Kang Town Council said it is aware of the issue.
"The earthworms and millipedes come from the roof gardens and ground-level landscaping, which are currently maintained by the contractor appointed by HDB," said the spokesperson.
"We have informed the contractor about the situation, and they are actively addressing it. Their mitigation measures include regular applications of insecticide and frequent on-site inspections.
"Additionally, our cleaning team has increased its efforts to maintain cleanliness in the affected areas."
The spokesperson added that residents can use insecticide to keep out the earthworms and millipedes.
"We seek the patience and understanding of our residents as we continue to work with HDB and the contractor to manage and monitor the situation.
"We recognise that earthworms and millipedes play a vital role in supporting and enhancing the soil and greenery in our estate."
