Early-morning shouting at Eunos basketball court keeps resident awake, town council installs sign
A resident living near Block 10 Eunos Crescent says he has been losing sleep due to groups of people gathering at the basketball court in the wee hours.
Stomper Mr Yang shared that on Sept 30 at around 5am, he was awoken by loud voices coming from the pondok, or shelter, next to the hardcourt.
"They were talking loudly, shouting, screaming and laughing," he said. "The video I took was after the loudest part, but you can still hear them clearly."
According to Mr Yang, the noise disturbance is not a one-off incident.
"This happens frequently. Sometimes they make noise past 1am, or like on Sept 30, super early at 5am," he shared.
"It's not always the same group, but usually teenagers or young adults.
"Other households and I have called the police hotline many times, but there seems to be no improvement."
In response to a Stomp query, Marine Parade Town Council (MPTC) said it has not received prior feedback on this matter.
"Nonetheless, as part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a pleasant and conducive living environment, we have installed a sign at the hardcourt to remind users to be considerate towards residents living in the vicinity and to keep noise levels down after 10pm," a town council spokesperson said.
"In addition, the lights at the basketball court are switched off at 10pm to discourage late-night or early morning recreational activities."
The town council reminded residents and members of the public to be considerate and refrain from noisy activities between 10pm and 7am, and said it remains committed to ensuring the well-being of residents.
Residents with feedback can contact MPTC at 6241 6044 or via its Facebook or Instagram (@marineparadetc).
