Off-duty SCDF officer killed in Punggol: Accident could have been avoided, says Stomper
A Stomper feels that a fatal accident that occurred at the junction of Punggol Way and Sumang Link on Aug 12 could have been avoided.
A 50-year-old male motorcyclist, identified as an off-duty Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officer, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His 15-year-old male pillion rider was conscious when taken to KK Women's and Children's hospital, said police, who were alerted to the accident at about 6.45am.
"Two male van drivers, aged 40 and 54, are assisting with investigations," the police told Stomp.

Stomper Bernard shared photos showing a police tent and a white van at the scene. Blood can also be seen on the road, in front of the van.
Bernard, especially worried because of the accident site's proximity to Punggol Cove Primary School, shared his thoughts on what happened.

The Stomper said: "I was wondering what the authorities are going to do about the traffic junction intersection.
"Students from Punggol Cove Primary School use that crossing daily. If you note the accident time, you can imagine how many children must have been traumatised by the scene.
"The primary school also doesn't deploy traffic wardens like other schools and if they did (being a school zone), I believe that the accident could have been averted.
"I feel sorry for the victims."
