Driver claims he didn't hear horn after reversing into e-bike at Marine Parade, police investigating
A woman is seeking dashcam footage from motorists after a car allegedly reversed into her power-assisted bicycle (PAB) along East Coast Road towards Mountbatten Road on Mar 3.
The police told Stomp that they were alerted to the accident at 2.55pm.
The 30-year-old rider sustained minor injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital, a police spokesperson said.
Investigations are ongoing.
Stomper Zoe, the rider, shared that the incident happened near 226A East Coast Road, close to i12 Katong, at around 2.52pm.
She said that a car reversed into her PAB despite her sounding her horn to warn the driver.
"He hit my bike so hard that it became unrideable, and I couldn't even push it back to my shop," she said, adding that the driver allegedly tried to flee the scene.
Her husband, who was in front at the time, told Stomp that he heard his wife honking loudly, but the driver still reversed into her.
When confronted, the driver claimed that he had not heard the horn.
The couple also shared a video of Zoe's husband recording the man and saying: "Ah this guy langgar (hit) people. This one, this one. This one the guy, this one the car. Remember this guy."
She estimated that the damage to her e-bike, which she described as an "old rifle lady bike," would cost between $200 to $500 to repair.
The couple is now appealing for dashcam footage from anyone who may have witnessed the accident.
