Driver arrested after top of his overheight trailer slams into bottom of Bedok North Flyover on PIE
A 40-year-old driver was arrested after the top of his trailer ran into the bottom of the Bedok North Flyover on the Pan-Island Expressway on Jan 6.
Stomper Lau Lau alerted Stomp to a dashcam video of the accident posted online by SG Road Vigilante.
In response to a Stomp query, the police said they were alerted to the accident on the PIE towards Changi Airport at 5.25pm.
No injuries were reported.
The man was arrested for driving a heavy motor vehicle with exceeded overall height of 4.5m without being escorted by a police officer or an auxiliary police officer.
For first-time offenders, the maximum penalty is a $2,000 fine and one to three years' jail plus disqualification from driving for at least a year.
For repeat offenders, the maximum penalty is a $5,000 fine and two to five years' jail or both plus disqualification from driving for at least two years.
Police investigations are ongoing.
