Driver allegedly pretends to charge non-electric Mercedes at EV station in Funan carpark
A driver who parked a non-electric vehicle in an electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Funan allegedly tried to "pretend" to be charging the car by placing the charging gun in the boot.
A photo posted online by SG Road Vigilante shows a dark blue Mercedes-Benz GLC250 SE Coupe, a petrol-powered vehicle, parked in front of the SPgroup charging station on June 22 at 7pm.
The charging cable was extended to the unlocked boot, giving the impression that the Mercedes was being charged.
The driver received harsh reactions from netizens, with many labelling the driver as "selfish".
A Facebook user named Rita Raz commented on the photo on June 23: "We were driving behind this car yesterday into Funan carpark.
"When we spotted an empty lot (and think the driver too), he drove against traffic just to chope the lot."
The Mercedes driver beat Rita Raz to the lot, but when she got there, she realised it was designated for EV charging.
"No wonder it was empty," she said.
"The driver had his smirk face when he saw us. We really thought his car was EV, so we left.
"And now we know! He was desperate to get a parking lot!"
