Driver accused of running red light at Jurong junction and causing crash that injured 4 people
Four people were injured in a car crash that left two cars severely damaged at a Jurong traffic junction on Jan 17.
A 57-year-old male driver ran a red light at the junction of Toh Guan Road and Jurong East Central, crashing into another car that was travelling straight.
The crash injured his own passenger, along with the driver and two passengers of the other car.
A photo provided by the police shows the two cars involved, with the black car having extensive damage on its side and the white car having a mangled front end.

He was one of five drivers charged in court on March 26 with the offence of dangerous driving causing hurt after failing to conform to red light signals.
The offence carries a fine of up to $10,000, a jail term of up to two years or both, plus a disqualification from driving all classes of vehicles.
Another driver, a 43-year-old man, crashed into a car making a right turn light at the junction of Sentosa Gateway and Telok Blangah Road also on Jan 17, injuring the car passenger.
On Oct 30, 2024, a 46-year-old male car driver failed to stop at the red light at the junction of Bras Basah Road and Victoria Street, resulting in a collision with another car that was travelling straight. The passenger of the other car sustained injuries.
Also charged was a 73-year-old male car driver, who is a repeat offender. He collided with a car that was turning right at the junction of Clementi Road and Maju Drive on Aug 28, 2024. The driver of the other car sustained injuries.
On the next day, a 44-year old lorry driver crashed into motorcycle that was travelling straight at the junction of Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim and Tuas West Road. The motorcyclist sustained multiple injuries, including a fractured wrist.
The lorry driver was charged with dangerous driving causing grievous hurt, an offence which carries a jail term of between one and five years and disqualification from driving all classes of vehicles.
