Singaporeans were treated to a beautiful sight on Monday evening (April 29), when a double rainbow appeared across various parts of the island.

Several Stompers shared photos of the rare weather phenomenon, which lit up the sky after a spell of rain.

Stomper A said they spotted the rainbow from the Springside area at around 6.54pm, while Stomper EG shared a shot from Sembawang.

Stomper W excitedly reported seeing "a huge double rainbow at Bukit Panjang Segar Road."

Regular contributor Ms Oz also sent in a photo, simply captioned: "Another rainbow."

The appearance of a double rainbow is a surprisingly relatively common occurrence that happens when sunlight reflects twice inside raindrops, creating a secondary arc with reversed colours above the main rainbow.
