Diner swears never to revisit 'sleazy' Bugis coffee shop that charged her $12 for meal
A woman was charged $12 for a meal of white rice with sotong, egg and tempeh at a coffee shop in Bugis.
Stomper Anonymous said he wanted to share his friend's experience after reading similar stories on Stomp even though the incident happened last year.
He added: "Take into consideration that it was lunchtime and there was a crowd in coffee shop. The cashier knew very few people would create a scene and probably realised from experience that diners, especially women, would just pay in disgust.
"Bugis is a sleazy place lah. My friend has sworn never to revisit the coffee shop."
Asked how much he felt would be an acceptable price for the meal, Anonymous told Stomp: "No more than $6 for this plate.
"However, it's not about how much one is willing to pay.
"With every CDC payout, prices tend to increase and they never drop again."
