Diner surprised Century Square restaurant cashier insists he pays 1-cent difference after error
A diner was surprised that a restaurant cashier insisted that he paid a one-cent difference after an error.
Stomper George said it happened after his dinner at the Teahouse by Soup Restaurant at Century Square in Tampines on Jan 7.
He said he heard the cashier, who was wearing a mask, inform him that the bill was $8.60.
"However, after I paid via ShopBack, he said it should have been $8.61 and asked me to make another transaction for $0.01," recounted the Stomper.
"ShopBack did not accept such a small transaction. Obviously, I did not have a one-cent coin with me.
"To my surprise, he would not let it go and insisted I pay the shortfall, using my credit card."
The Stomper shared a photo of the UOB credit card receipt showing the $0.01 transaction.

"I'm not sure if I should be amused, but I'm not going to judge him," said the Stomper.
"After all, most establishments round up or down. But even then, it was for that one cent."
